The New Middle East:
Opportunity for Kansas Businesses Duboi: One of Many New Cities The Middle East is poised to become a major global economic player. Kansas businesses should take notice of the opportunities in this development. Many countries are currently involved in architecture and construction. There are more construction workers in Dubai than there are actual citizens. The main concern for those states that have not gotten recognized by this area of the world may well have difficulty getting established in this international trade corridor if not involved within the next three years. |

Editorial Comments about International Trade Within the next decade or two, the economic centers in the world is expected to shift to those governments that provide the resources to implement change and have the inter-structures in place to quickly resolve problem solving options. This inter-structure is not based upon the political format, but the performance of that government structure to meet the solutions of solving the needs of the people through natural resources and technology. While the location of Dubai does not appear currently to have the local geological resources for manufacturing except for glass and plastics, and aluminum, with the emerging NODE business management model, this is no longer an issue. Also, the size of the country or natural resources will not play as important role as traditional manufacturing methods. The NODE business model allows businesses to create components of their final product in many locations in the world, as well as creating a component for other companies. Many of the new businesses will not be involved in producing a final product, but rather functioning in a development and solutions service to other businesses. The construction of business suites for attracting the NODE business operators is an application that is in development in Dubai and other cities in the Middle East. As a result, businesses in the USA must have government structures as well as other support structures in place to reduce the time needed for approval and enactment of new ideals. Any geographical area that can blend this combination of resources for intellectual, scientific and technology applications becomes the leader in world economics. Saudi Arabia is constructing seven new cities with initial investment of $111 billion dollars (USD equivalent) with additional funding from investors from other countries. The population under 25 years is 60 percent with other countries at 18 years of 60 percent. University education is free in many areas of the Middle East, allowing the training of workers for businesses. Some regions have no corporate or income taxes, however, there is usually a fee for hiring personnel outside of the countries to encourage local employment. Abu Dhabi Aims to Build First Carbon-Neutral City
By:
Joe Palca
06 May 2008 — In Abu Dhabi, there's an
area of nothing but wind-swept desert. But 10 years from now, if all
goes according to plan, a city of 6 square kilometers housing 50,000
people will rise in the United Arab Emirates—and it will be carbon
neutral.Source: National Public Radio The project, called Masdar City, will burn no gas or oil, so its contribution to greenhouse gases will be minimal. Masdar is the centerpiece of emirate Abu Dhabi's plans to get into the renewable energy market, a hedge against the day its oil wells run dry. To read the entire story, visit National Public Radio.

The
Abu Dhabi, one of the seven new cities in Saudi Arabia, public
transportation (and private) is made up of automated transport pods for
specific location transport in the place of the traditional automobile.
Usage of the units may run on existing streets in designated area or on
elevated transport highways. The automobile industry in the USA is
likely to expand into this development and design as the sharing of the
transportation units through public transportation will become far more
cost effective without loosing the current independence associated with
traditional public transportation. Truck and other
commercial models could be possible. The rental companies
would be able to have their closest "taxi" summoned electronically by
customers for automated delivery. It will revolutionize the
package delivery industries. The transport system is powered
by photocell, however, charging stations through wind power or
combined with solid hydrogen fuel pellets. Under development by CH2M
